Ruhana woke to a ping on her phone. At first, she thought it was her alarm, but multiple notifications from X—formerly Twitter—caught her eye. A hashtag made her heart thud:
Scrolling through, she saw reels showing two people—one working, the other keeping watch. She laughed, chiding herself for overthinking, and set the phone aside.
But the alerts kept coming—on both Ruhana’s and Pranavi’s phones. Pranavi woke and asked, “What’s happening?”
“I don’t know!” Ruhana replied.
They checked together; the hashtag was everywhere. Ruhana’s unease grew, and then Pranavi held out her phone.
“Ruu, watch this.”
Ruhana read the article, eyes widening. The hashtag led to a dangerous link—a cyberattack. Memories of past breaches flooded her mind.
She muttered, “I need to get to the bottom of this. If it’s the same thing, it’s dangerous for the country.”
Pranavi noticed her tension. “What’s wrong, Ruu?”
“I have urgent work. Can we head to the office separately?” Ruhana asked.
Pranavi nodded, though confused. “Alright. But if you need my help, don’t hesitate.”
After a quick breakfast, Ruhana called a former colleague.
“The Silent Eye is back,” she whispered.
“Are you sure?” came a deep voice.
“Yes. It’s bringing a digital storm. We need to stop it. I need to meet you.”
“Come to my office,” he replied, and the call ended.
Ruhana stared at #TheSilentEye, emotions storming. The same syndicate that had ruined her life was rising again.
“I won’t let it ruin another life,” she said, determination blazing. She gathered her belongings and left home—ready to face the threat she had once walked away from.
